Hello everyone! My name is Ari and I am a fellow Harley Quinn fanatic and owner of @arisharleys on instagram and harleyoftheday on tumblr. I am so honored to have been given the invite to become a writer on this blog!
While working on my daily Harley merch blog I’ve spent hours up in the “bowels of the internet” digging and scrounging up as many Harley figures and plush as I can. As one may imagine my travels have led me to see some weird things, and for my first post here I’d like to share some of them with you.

Numskull Tubbz Classic Harley Quinn
Starting off with something more cute than overtly strange we have the Tubbz classic Harley. Tubbz is a line of pop culture ducks by Numskull that has really taken off over the past couple years. These oddly charming little figures give quite the unique take on some favourite characters. They have made in total 3 Harleys: Classic Harley, as seen here, mini classic Harley and The Suicide Squad Harley.

Rubik’s Cube Charaction Birds of Prey Harley Quinn
This odd looking Harley is hiding a secret… She is a fully functional Rubik’s cube as demonstrated here. To be honest I am not even sure the thought process behind this line. As there is something a little disturbing about the idea of twisting Harley’s body up until it’s a mangled mess only to twist it back together. It’s giving Joker. None the less it does wildly amuse me that this exists.

Medicom Toy Be@rbrick Suicide Squad Harley Quinn
Medicom Toy is a Japanese toy company that produces a wide variety of figures. While probably most well known for their Mafex line of figures, they also produce two wildly popular blind box toys Kubrick and it’s spin off series Be@rbrick. They are both highly stylized lines of vinyl figures with Be@rbricks all being based off the same base of a teddy bear style figure repainted to match whatever they want. While the highly stylized toy can work for things like animated Harley, something goes horribly wrong when translating live action characters. Suicide Squad Harley is a prime example of this with the bear base’s snout making her look like she’s been stung by bees. The lack of a nose, weird smirk and too humanly shaped eyes just bring her into the uncanny valley.

Mattel Fisher Price Little People Collector Suicide Squad
In recent years Mattel has been producing a line of collector’s little people sets aimed at adults with a wide range of properties represented. One of the funniest and weirdest to me is no doubt the suicide squad set. While adorable and well made, the discrepancy between the cutesyness of the figures and the more adult subject matter is a little odd to say the least. If you ever are in need of a smile just think of these little guys going on a suicide mission to save the little people Barbie dream house.

Pawzplay Harley Quinn
It might surprise you to find out there is an entire subsection of merch that is just turning Harley into different animals, case in point Pawzplay Harley Quinn. While maybe not the strangest thing in the world and definitely adorable (I promise I do not have a cat bias 😉 ) it’s another case of odd juxtaposition. Though far from the strangest in the Pawzplay line with a Breaking Bad set having been release for SDCC.

Woolsworths Mini Meerkat Harley Quinn
Another example of the animal Harley trend coming to you from the land down under. Woolsworths has a surprisingly exstensive line of these mini meerkats representing a wide array of characters licensed and not. Of course here the most interesting one to me is the Harley one. Cute and a little freaky with those big glass eyes, a definite unique item for a display. If you want to read and see more about it Angel made a post here.

Burger King Warner Bros. 100 Tweety Bird as Harley Quinn
Our last example of animal Harley comes to us from Burger King. For the Warner Bros. 100th anniversary celebration a whole lot of figures and things released, with some of the most interesting being the Looney Tunes mashups. Burger King in collaboration released a whole set of DC x Looney Tunes toys with Tweety taking the mantle of Harley. An interesting choice to say the least with a more obvious option being Lola. The figure, despite being small and a free giveaway practically, is still decently well made. The added detail of lenticular eyes being an interesting addition to a weird figure.

Cryptozoic Entertainment Teekeez Harley Quinn
This is one I have in my personal collection and it’s one that always inspires a reaction in people. It seems like the first words out of many mouths upon seeing this figure for the first time is “What the Hell?”. Cryptozoic entertainment is no stranger to Harley with a wide range of beautiful stylized statues, which they are most known for. But they have dipped their toes into some weirder and more obscure lines too. Teekeez is a line based off of tiki statues similar to Geeki Tikis, but more simplified and strange. Harley’s wide smile that seems to make up 90% of the figure is definitely eye catching to say the least. More Joker than what we’re used to seeing on her. And in the grand tradition of Cryptozoic she also has several colour variants. Gotta catch em all creepy Harls!

Hot Wheels SDCC 2016 Suicide Squad Harley Quinn Car
There is a shocking amount of Harley Quinn themed toy cars with Hot Wheels alone having at least 7 unique ones (with my count). The SDCC exclusive Suicide Squad Harley car is one of the wackiest to me. With an elaborate display box showing the car delicately suspended in a jail cell as Harley was in her movie introduction. I am not familiar with car breeds like at all so sadly I cannot say if it is based on anything real.

Thomas & Friends Minis Millie as Harley Quinn
Another children’s toy based Harley Quinn, this time the ever so classic Thomas the Tank Engine. For their extensive minis line they collaborated with DC Comics to release a special wave of figures with the engines as DC icons. Millie took up the mantle of Harley for the release and, something went wrong. Normally Thomas things don’t unnerve me, I grew up on him so maybe I’m just desensitized, but something about this one gets me. It’s giving Jay Jay the Jet Plane. The low quality stock photo and the fact that you can’t fully see her does not help, but HQ pics just make it worse.

Zuru/Spin Master Toys Fugglers x DC Harley Quinn
Finally to wrap things up we have Her. Teekeez Harley elicited verbal reactions, Fuggler Harley elicits physical. I have had people jump back when shown her while exclaiming some creative language. Fugglers have an interesting history. Originally created in 2010 by one person Mrs. McGettrick, they were hand made in her home in Britain. The weird, horrifying and charming creatures she brought to life captured hearts the world over. Several click bait images of them and Youtube videos (where I found out about them) later and in the late 2010s the rights were bought. Fugglers are now available anywhere they can creep their way into, and have had several big name brand collabs like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spongebob. The DC Comics wave was a big surprise and Harley’s gaping maw another one. Whether you love or hate her and her single half dead brain cell, there is little denying she is one of the weirdest and wackiest Harleys ever made.
